Open Ended Contract - Permanent; Part Time - 24 Hours Per Week.

The University of Edinburgh is seeking to appoint a Senior Clinical Lecturer to support delivery of postgraduate education to specialist level and provide clinical support within our well established Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry in Endodontology at the Edinburgh Dental Institute.  The role is an academic appointment through the University of Edinburgh.

An Honorary NHS contract will be sought for the successful post holder. You therefore must be eligible to hold an honorary contract with NHS Lothian, and must also be registered with the General Dental Council.

If you are currently a member of the NHS Pension Scheme and are employed in a clinical post it may be possible for you to remain a member of the NHS Pension Scheme.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Completion of an extended period of specialised practice in Endodontics
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with patients and other team members
  • Evidence of research activity and presentations
  • Evidence of formal and informal teaching and training (including supervision) of speciality trainee dentists, dental students and other clinical staff
  • Ability to work in a team with colleagues in own and other disciplines

About the Team

The Edinburgh Dental Institute (Director, Prof Angus Walls) was established in 1999 to develop postgraduate education and education for the dental team. We have excellent facilities and are situated centrally within the historic and vibrant capital of Scotland. We are located at Lauriston Place in Central Edinburgh, occupying the top three floors of the Lauriston Building, a dedicated out-patient centre for dentistry and a number of medical disciplines. Activities of Edinburgh Dental Institute are as a result of strong cooperation and collaboration between the University of Edinburgh, NHS Lothian, NHS Education for Scotland and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
