Clinical University Lecturer/Honorary Specialty Dentist in Special Care Dentistry

We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical University Lecturer, Honorary Specialty Dentist in Special Care Dentistry to deliver undergraduate education in Special Care Dentistry, including the development of innovative approaches to teaching and educational scholarship. It is consistently ranked amongst the top Dental Schools in the UK, achieving 1st place in the Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide, and 1st in the UK Guardian University Guide [Dentistry] for 2023.

The Dental School is dedicated to the delivery of world-leading, student-centred learning and teaching which embraces modern and dynamic approaches to education. Our commitment to progress in Dental Education has resulted in the formation of a unique Community of Dental Educational Research and Scholarship Group, which consistently contributes to the international community and leads on academic output in this field. We provide an advanced and collaborative curriculum, which recognises, respects, and fully supports individuals, aiming to allow each individual to flourish and become a world changer.

We deliver postgraduate research opportunities and, in addition, taught postgraduate programmes in a range of subjects, and we benefit from comprehensive modern facilities for patient care, student clinical practice and training, and education and research. The Dental School hosts two internationally recognised research groups in Oral Sciences and Community Oral Health, who collaborate with international research partners. The Dental School also houses an active Clinical Research Facility in partnership with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

A strong and prosperous relationship exists between The University of Glasgow and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, which is the largest health board in Scotland. The Special Care Dentistry Service provides holistic, patient-centred care  with responsibility to deliver dental care for local, regional, and national Services. Robust and collaborative links also exist with our health and social care partners.   

We welcome applications from candidates who hold a registrable qualification with the General Dental Council (GDC) and a fellowship in Dental Surgery or MFDS from one of the Royal Surgical Colleges or equivalent.
