Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Psychology in Relation to Dentistry

Applications are invited from enthusiastic and motivated individuals for this post in the School of Dentistry. There is a major teaching focus but the appointment may be to the Teaching & Scholarship or Teaching & Research tracks, dependent upon the interests, record and aptitude of the applicant. You should be conversant with contemporary learning, teaching and assessment concepts in the Higher Education setting. A background in any of the major branches of psychology may be suitable but particular expertise in Health Psychology, Clinical Psychology or Educational Psychology would be advantageous. You would be responsible for leading the teaching of behavioural factors in oral health, and communication skills, as well as supporting our unique ‘Personal Development and Wellbeing’ curriculum component. You would contribute to the ‘Understanding Clinical Practice’ elements of the curriculum, which is predominantly delivered via Problem Based Learning, and to assessment of students. There will be opportunities to contribute to PGT and PGR programmes in the school, through teaching and supervision. Scholarship and research are encouraged, and those applicants with active research interests will be supported to engage in collaborative research within the School, Institute and Faculty. You will be expected to contribute to leadership and management within the school and will be supported to develop the necessary skills.
