Do you yearn for a better work-life balance, while still enjoying the prospect to be involved in a stimulating consultant post?  New Zealand, offers an unrivalled safe haven to work and live: urban opportunities nestled amidst unparalleled natural beauty and friendly, welcoming people.

Join New Zealand’s largest teaching hospital

  • Enjoy the Auckland location - outstanding blend of urban & outdoors lifestyle
  • Previous NZ experience not required

Auckland Hospital & Specialist Dentistry (HSD), provides hospital-based secondary and tertiary level specialist oral health services for people living in the greater metropolitan Auckland area (1.8 million people). New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland offers access to a mixture of urban, beach and outdoor environments and activities (see Heart of the City); study, work and living  (see Auckland for kids) and has access to some of the best schools in the country which, along with the above, makes it an ideal destination for families (see best schools).

A rewarding opportunity has now arisen to join the HSD team as an Oral Medicine Specialist. You will be joining a supportive team of oral medicine consultants and a wider, multidisciplinary team of dedicated dental specialists and dentists. Established over 30 years ago, the oral medicine specialty area in HSD has >3000 (and growing) outpatient visits per year and there are also strong collegial affiliations with local dermatology, rheumatology and haematology/stem cell transplant services. You will also have opportunities for ongoing professional development, as well as the potential for research involvement.

The primary focus of this hospital-based role is the provision of comprehensive consultant-led oral medicine services including: the management of complex oral mucosal and potentially malignant diseases, oral disease occurring as a manifestation of systemic disease (especially with respect to salivary gland disorders) and complex orofacial pain. You will also provide supervision to a non-training oral medicine registrar and dental house officers on rotation.

This is your chance to join us in Auckland and showcase how your expertise can make a difference. In addition to your salary, there are generous holiday and study leave allowances, continuing professional development disbursements, work-place matched Kiwisaver contributions and professional fee reimbursements.
