Call for applications for NIHR In-Practice Fellowship - 2021

Applications are invited for the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) In-Practice Fellowship. The scheme, funded by the NIHR Academy, is part of the Integrated Academic Training (IAT) programme set up to improve career pathways for researchers in both medicine and dentistry.

The NIHR In-Practice Fellowships are designed to support fully-qualified General Practitioners, General Dental Practitioners and Community Dentists who have outstanding potential as a researcher and/or educationalist.

The fellowship funds:

  • a personalised programme of academic training (such as a Masters degree)
  • salary for 50% of awardees’ time over 24 months (or longer if part-time), subject to limits on the basic salary that NIHR will fund for the time in academic training
  • conference attendance

The Fellowships allow the practitioner to have protected time to develop academic skills and is expected to lead to the preparation of an application for a competitive, peer-reviewed doctoral fellowship.

Full details of the NIHR In-Practice Fellowship funding opportunities, eligibility criteria and application process are available from the NIHR Academy website at www.nihr.ac.uk/iat

Closing date for applications: 1pm on Thursday 25 March 2021
