Job Details

The BDA is appointing a scientific advisor

Do you have research or public health experience?
Do you have access to a network of knowledge and authority in relation to the evidence base of clinical practice?
Can you think strategically, communicate persuasively and act decisively?
Are you a member of the BDA?
And are you a dentist registered in the UK?

Yes?

The BDA wants to appoint a Scientific Advisor to be a lead media spokesperson, brief its Board on dental health and science issues and act as a Scientific Advisor to the British Dental Journal. The current Scientific Advisor is standing down and the position is available now. The successful candidate will be expected to remain in post for at least three years.

The Scientific Advisor will be significantly involved in the work of the BDA’s Health and Science Committee and will contribute to the development of BDA health and science policy by liaising with government, opinion formers and the media to promote the interests of the profession and better public health.

In accordance with standard BDA policy, general dental practitioners are paid the normal BDA sessional allowance for time away from their practice. For salaried dentists, employers are expected to cover time away. Travel and subsistence costs are reimbursed.

Further details, including person specification and role description, are available from Arianne Matlin:

arianne.matlin@bda.org or telephone 07595 056883

Applicants should send a cv and per sonal statement showing how they meet the person specification to Dr Matlin by 30 October 2020.

Virtual interviews will be held late afternoon/early evening on 9, 16 & 18 November 2020.
