Microbiome and Bioinformatics

Temple University’s Kornberg School of Dentistry in Philadelphia is seeking a highly qualified researcher for a tenure-track position in bioinformatics with a particular focus in the field of the oral microbiome.

Applicants must have PhD-level training in the life sciences, public health, or computer science with strong familiarity of bioinformatics, computational biology, genomic analysis and general life sciences.  Familiarity with medical and dental research and an established research portfolio, including NIH extramural funding and a strong publishing record would be helpful.  Must demonstrate a potential for conducting pioneering work and developing research programs. The candidate must have a strong working knowledge of bioinformatics related to genomics, transcriptomics, and/or proteomics data, and of public database resources and expertise with:

- Microbiome sequencing data analysis and visualization tools including but not limited to mothur, QIIME, HUMAnN2, Megan, Microbiome R package, and Phyloseq.

- Microbiome dynamics modeling and simulation tools such as MDSINE, Web-gLV, TIME, LIMITS.

- Programming with C++ and Python are a plus

Preference will be given to applicants who are in collaborations with other researchers in the US and other countries. Successful candidates will become part of a network of multidisciplinary research teams with relevant schools and colleges of Temple University. Research laboratory space and start-up package will be available.

Successful candidates will have primary responsibility for building a strong research program. Responsibilities will also include didactic teaching and service.

Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and research production. Successful candidates will also be considered for senior administrative leadership positions at the school.
