Salary Scale: £75,881 - £98,515 per annum (D6 scale) - an appointment will be made on the appropriate point of the Clinical Academic Consultant scale.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an inspirational individual to join the School of Dentistry to contribute to the senior leadership of Restorative Dentistry.

Working with colleagues, the successful candidate will be required to develop the teaching provision in Restorative Dentistry in the School, delivering high-quality research-led teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, pursuing excellence in teaching and pedagogy and to inspire others to do the same.

As such, we seek an enthusiastic individual who has achieved relevant specialist status in Restorative Dentistry and expertise in this area, possessing a BDS (or equivalent) degree and full GDC registration (or UK eligibility for registration) as a specialist in Restorative Dentistry.

The successful candidate will have a natural aptitude for teaching, and for inculcating a conscientious learning spirit amongst the diverse student pool at the School.

Progressive healthcare education and patient care are successfully integrated with outstanding research facilities in our major hospital-based teaching and research centre. You will join academic and clinical staff who are recognised as world-leading experts in their fields, providing valuable clinical services to the people of Wales in addition to their academic responsibilities.

You will supervise the clinical and academic training of undergraduate and postgraduate students within Restorative Dentistry and take a leading role in the development of their patient management, and clinical skills, where required, to specialist level. You must ensure linkage between the didactic components of the BDS and MClinDent programmes and their clinical activity to help trainees become knowledgeable, proficient and ethical practitioners. In addition, you will provide clinical leadership and a consultant-led service in Restorative Dentistry.

Appointment is offered at the level of a Clinical Senior Lecturer and the role holder will specialise/lead in teaching and scholarship activities and dependent on the successful candidate’s profile, the opportunity to collaborate in research activities through interaction with established research groups in the School.

This is a full-time open-ended post.

This post is available on either the Teaching and Scholarship or the Teaching and Research career pathway. The career pathway will be determined by the panel based on the candidate’s suitability.

An Hon. Consultant Contract will be awarded by Cardiff and Vale UHB to a suitably qualified and experienced appointee.
