EDINBURGH SECONDMENT      

We are seeking a respected, professional leader to become the new Chief Dental Officer for the Scottish Government.  This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in influencing, advising and developing the wide range of government policies relevant to dentistry.

You should be able to demonstrate significant credibility and standing within the dental profession and a high level of knowledge and understanding of the professional culture and political environment in relation to oral health issues in Scotland. You will be expected to lead the implementation of the Oral Health Improvement Plan taking cognisance of the wider public health agenda.

We expect the Chief Dental Officer to be an excellent team player working closely with fellow chief clinical professional officers, civil service colleagues and stakeholders to improve Scotland’s health, modernise care and promote the wider population health agenda.

It is essential that you are registered with the General Dental Council and meet their ongoing requirements of continuing professional education and development.

The post will be offered on a secondment based on existing terms and conditions between the Scottish Government and your current employer (the successful candidate will continue to be an employee of their current employer).
