Grade/Salary: Consultant– £77,913 up to £105,042 per annum, pro rata

Working Option: Part time – 8 Sessions per week.

Leeds Community Dental Service (CDS) are a citywide service. We offer a wide range of dental services in hospital, prison and community settings. The Community Dental Service provides NHS dental care for children and adults who have dental treatment needs which cannot be met in a general dental practice. The majority of our patients have physical, sensory, intellectual, mental, medical, emotional or social impairment or more often a combination of these factors.

We are looking for, a highly motivated and enthusiastic consultant to provide clinical leadership in paediatric or special care dentistry. The post holder should be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills. This post is a permanent post for 8PA's.

The post holder will take a lead role in providing comprehensive care to medically compromised phobic, children and / or adults with behavioural problems and patients who for any reason cannot be treated by a General Dental Practitioner and who require specialist intervention.  They will provide a seamless dental service across the primary and secondary care boundary as well as providing strategic direction and clinical leadership of the service. The consultant will be required to lead the General Anaesthetic Services in the Leeds CDS as well as be the trainer for Member of the Facility of Dental Surgery candidates, Specialist Registrars and other trainees.

The applicant must be General Dental Council (GDC) registered and hold a performer number. You should be on the GDC specialist list in paediatric or special care dentistry and have successful completion of an SAC-approved 2 year minimum training programme in a Fixed Term Training Appointment (FTTA) in Dentistry, or within 6 months of completion, or equivalent which follows on from the pre-CCST training period of 3 years.
