An exciting opportunity has arisen for an inspirational individual to join the School of Dentistry to provide leadership within our longstanding and highly regarded taught postgraduate programme in Orthodontics (MScD). In addition, we will ask you to contribute to our undergraduate dental programmes with teaching in Orthodontics.

As such, we seek an enthusiastic individual who has achieved relevant specialist status in Orthodontics and expertise in this area, possessing a BDS (or equivalent) degree and full GDC registration (or UK eligibility for registration) as a specialist in Orthodontics.

You will join academic and clinical staff who are recognised as world-leading experts in their fields, providing valuable clinical services to the people of Wales in addition to their academic responsibilities.

You will supervise the clinical and academic training of postgraduate students within Orthodontics and take a leading role in the development of their patient management, and clinical skills, to specialist level; ensuring linkage between the didactic components of the MScD programme and their clinical activity to ensure trainees become knowledgeable, proficient and ethical practitioners. In addition, you will provide clinical leadership and a consultant-led service in Orthodontics.

You should have extensive experience of developing assessment programmes and course/curriculum design, particularly in relation to Orthodontics and a keen interest in developing innovative clinical, research-led education.

Appointment is offered at Clinical Senior Lecturer to Reader level, though for candidates meeting the relevant benchmarks set by Cardiff University, appointment may be made at Professorial level. The appointment will be a Teaching and Research or Teaching and Scholarship pathway dependent on the skill set of the successful applicant.

The successful candidate will be awarded an appropriate honorary contract by Cardiff and Vale Local University Health Board.
