We are seeking to appoint currently practising, and GDC registered, dentists to become Clinical Dental Advisers for the GDC. Working in our Fitness to Practise Directorate alongside GDC colleagues, you will ensure that appropriate and timely clinical advice is provided on all relevant cases.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about the contribution we make to improving healthcare services; who understand the far-reaching impact of our work, and who approach all of their work with integrity and objectivity. You will be an outstanding communicator, both written and oral, and will enjoy working as part of a team to help make reasoned, and sometimes very challenging, decisions. You will be able to analyse and assess clinical evidence and to set out your judgements about the standard of the care a patient has received, and to give advice to colleagues about what evidence might be required to progress an investigation. You will work efficiently and manage a large and varied workload, bringing high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.

The GDC is the regulator of professional standards in dentistry in the UK. We are a statutory corporation, independent of both the dental profession and of Government, although we work closely with both. Our job is to ensure that dental care is delivered only by suitably qualified professionals with current expertise who understand and take seriously their obligations to patients. We regulate across the whole dental team – dentists, hygienists, nurses, orthodontists and technicians.
